Product Overview
The SML-M2 is a cable and fiber tester for structured cabling installation and network maintenance. Used with its tracing probe and remote unit, it traces Ethernet cables, checks continuity and wire mapping, and graphically identifies normal wiring, opens, shorts, crossed pairs, and poor termination at the main or remote end.
It also measures cable length and helps locate breaks, with calibration parameters available for different cable materials. The built-in optical power meter provides real-time fiber-link power measurements at six standard wavelengths. The SML-M2 does not include a visual fault locator.

Safety and Operating Boundaries
- Switch ports may be used for tracing; continuity testing does not support non-standard PoE switches. Confirm the power type before connection.
- Recall calibration parameters that match the cable under test before measuring length.
- Keep fiber connectors and the optical power port clean, and insert or remove connectors in the correct orientation.
