SML-MP6 Optical Power Meter and Cable Tester
Portable field tester combining optical power measurement, test-record storage, and Ethernet cable continuity and wire-map testing.

The product image illustrates the series form factor. The actual panel layout and interfaces depend on the specific model.
Product Overview
The SML-MP6 combines an optical power meter and Ethernet continuity tester in a portable instrument. It displays linear, logarithmic, or relative optical power, switches among six standard wavelengths, and stores up to 255 test records.
Ethernet testing uses the main unit’s M port and the remote module’s R port. It identifies normal wiring, opens, shorts, crossed pairs, and poor termination at either end. The SML-MP6 does not include a visual fault locator, cable length measurement, or Bluetooth data transfer.
Typical Applications
- Optical power measurement during fiber-link installation and maintenance
- Power comparison across fiber patch cords, panels, and link ports
- Ethernet continuity, wire-map, and fault-state checks in structured cabling
- On-site optical power record storage and review
Safety and Operating Boundaries
- Ethernet testing supports ordinary switches and standard PoE switches, but not non-standard PoE switches.
- Clean fiber end faces and instrument optical ports before measurement, and select the wavelength that matches the signal under test.
- Charge only from a DC 5 V / 0.5 A supply. Do not use high-voltage fast chargers or unverified power sources.
Features
- Linear, logarithmic, and relative optical power measurement
- Six selectable standard wavelengths with 1310 nm as the power-on default
- Ethernet continuity and wire-map testing for opens, shorts, crossed pairs, and main- or remote-end faults
- Stores up to 255 optical power test records
- Universal optical interface directly accepts FC, SC, and ST connectors
